By exercising Taijiquan we find the balance between tension and relaxation. Relaxation does not, in this case, mean powerlessness and sleepiness. It is a strength that is not hard or stiff but flexible. When you are relaxed your perception is heightened and the senses are sharper. The body/ mind connection is enhanced. Improved self awareness creates a better understanding of yourself and others. Taiji is mostly practiced slowly to reveal inaccuracies, to correct the posture and to embody the principles. All movements can be executed also quickly and dynamically.
